about our Services
What is it?
Most body activities rely on a good supply of electrolytes, minerals and vitamins. These include minerals such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, selenium, phosphate, iron and copper, as well as several vitamins. These all have to be maintained at the right level in the body. Excess or deficiency of electrolytes, minerals or vitamins may result in ill health with varied symptoms.
It is often the case, however, that electrolyte, mineral and/or vitamin levels are not routinely checked by GPs – in fact, most GPs would need a greater understanding of this area in order to identify abnormal levels. Additionally, as well as identifying low or high levels, it is important to also identify the causes of any abnormal results. These may include nutritional deficiencies, underlying illness or genetic causes. At Blood Genius, we identify, investigate and treat all of these conditions, including low sodium, low potassium, low phosphate, low and high calcium, low magnesium, iron deficiency and iron overload, heavy metal poisoning and zinc deficiency.
Symptoms and causes
Symptoms of electrolyte deficiency can include muscle weakness, cramping, irregular heartbeat, fatigue and confusion. Nutrient deficiencies can also cause a range of symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, anaemia and poor immune function. Common nutrient deficiencies include iron, vitamin D, vitamin B12 and calcium.
Treatment
After detailed testing of patients with chronic deficiencies, we instigate a comprehensive treatment plan alongside regular follow up and support.
Personalised treatment plan
Through personalised treatment plans, we aim to reduce symptoms associated with deficiency of electrolytes, minerals or vitamins. By identifying and addressing the root causes, we can offer effective approach to managing this common health concern.
